According to research by Craig Morrison and Irv Glazer the Aldine Theatre was built by Warner and designed by Thomas W. Lamb. It was built around 1921 and traded to Loew’s and reopened as Loew’s Aldine on October 2, 1941. It closed late 1970.
My family has it that my aunt, Emily Allegretto, was Miss Loew’s Aldine of Wilmington De. The year would have been approx. 1943. (the year before I was born.) The theater has since been demolished. As the story goes, my aunt could have had a lucrative Hollywood contract based on this pagent win—but she declined.
Perhaps someone out there has some information on this particular Loew’s beauty pagent. Thanks, Buzz
The Loew’s marquee can be seen in this photo, circa 1950s:

Can anyone give me info on the Cinemart on Gov Prinz? I can’t find any info anywhere, but, I stop to look at it every time I’m in the area. What a mystery. The only thing I can tell is that I was built in the 60’s due to the chandelier and font on the front sign.
Seems like a tiny theatre, but hardly with some 1800 seats. I have seen nicer looking Loew’s Theatres.

The Aldine was demolished in 1999. However, due to public outcry the facade was recreated.
