The Lindel Theatre opened in 1940 and was operated by Long Theatres chain. In 1947 it was renamed Jewel Theatre. The theatre was closed in 1955 and was converted into a Freemason hall, Lodge 979. It has since been gutted and converted into office space. Fortunately most of the exterior remains intact.

When I was a kid that was the only theater in town. It was run by two old ladies and still had the original wooden seats. It was only open on Friday and Saturday nights and played the same movie both nights. I believe that it was still showing movies into the 70’s.
