The Canterbury Theatre opened in 1937, although looking at the building it appears to date from an earlier period. In 1951, it was operated by Hoyts Theatres Ltd. The Canterbury Theatre was an early closure, closing in 1952. The building is currently home to the Maling Road Antique Market.
