The Angel Theatre was built in 1936 by Harvey Entertainment. It was gutted by a fire on April 15, 1954. It was restored and reopened and the classic 450-seat Angel Theatre was restored in 1999 by its current owners, Cinema West, and converted into a triplex.
The main auditorium features murals of Gold Country miners, which are lit by original trough lighting. The main theater also contains a large stage and curtain. During the restoration, stadium seating was installed along with state-of-the-art projection and sound equipment.
Two smaller theaters are located in the former balcony, which has been refurbished with more leg room and better sight lines. A fourth auditorium was added to the building in the latter part of 2001. Later Angels added a fifth screen and in early-2020 a sixth screen was added.

A very nice theater in a very small town. There was a time when it was all closed up but luckily it was restored and reopen. It is sad though that they transformed the balcony into two separate auditoriums. I am an advocate against the use of the balcony as another auditorium. I always enjoyed viewing a movie from a balcony. Instead of looking up at a movie you are looking at it dead center.
I have the privelege of being the assistant manager at this fine theatre and I am glad to see it recognized on a website so appropriately titled. It is still in excellent condition although the new auditoriums have not been completed and will not be completed until the end of this summer. You notice that auditorium is plural. Yes we will have two new theatres which will not change the existing theatres at all. We also have a new and improved lobby which will soon have a whole new concessions stand where we will be able to serve more than just popcorn, soda and candy. We have collected a lot of memorabilia from its original days and if you would like to check it out the bos is always willing to share his knowledge of the theatre with you, or his knowledge of film. Aside from showing independant films at the theatre he teaches a class on film appreciation and has limitless knowledge on the topic if you care to discuss it with him.

The sign was severely damaged last year by a large vehicle. They have restored it and it looks good as new.
The Angels Theatre in Angeles Camp CA now has 6 auditoriums with a new small space added on the far right side. I just added some new photos for the Angels 6 Theatre. Will try to get them to put back the blue lights for the glow look in Theatre #1 on the side art gold mine art murals.
