One, if not the, largest theater in Brooklyn. United Artists The Movies Sheepshead Bay was opened May 20, 1987 as a 9-screen ‘plex with 3,540 seats. On June 7, 2002 it was expanded to 14 screens. It later underwent renovation and the seating capacity was been reduced to 3,329. IMAX was added on November 7, 2008 and around 2010 RPX was added. Mostly mainstream fare, but has so many screens, it can afford the occasional indie/Woody Allen film every so often. Has a nice variety of films; usually something for everyone. Only game in town with recent neighborhood closings of popular theaters.

Please update the 5 screen expansion to 14 screens was completed on June 7, 2002
I haven’t heard of ushers or security guards telling people to leave during the end credits before(very rude).
This location will receive an IMAX Laser upgrade, being one of the busiest for Regal in the nation.

2024 Update: Theater doesn’t hit the cleaning lights anymore while people are watching credits, since post covid. Also post covid, theater no longer masks the screens. All theaters have it set in one position. Theaters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 14 are all set to scope. Flat movies will show with bars on the sides. Theaters 8 and 9 are set to flat. So scope movies will show black bars on top and bottom. Theater 10 is RPX and has a fixed flat floating screen. Scope shows with black bars on top and bottom. Theater 12 is IMAX and has a fixed flat floating screen. Scope movies will show black bars on top and bottom too. Theater 6 is supposed to be a flat screen (since they aren’t enabling the masking feature) but they still have the masking on the sides wide open, which makes the flat movies show bars on sides and scope movies show with bars on sides AND on top and bottom!
I think one of the screens on the second floor does have properly functioning masking as I’ve seen it go off sometimes but a lot of the screens definitely do not use the masking.
The only ones with masking is Theatre 13 and 14
Per an employee at the theater, they’re updating to put recliners in every auditorium. Theaters 8 and 9 are currently not operational and had their regular seats demolished/taken down. Recliners expected to be in at some point in 2025. Don’t know how I feel about this as I think capacity is kind of an issue in that theater and recliners reduce that capacity.
Tickets for Gladiator 2 at the IMAX screen were $31.50 each. And the screen lighting was not even at full capacity. What an expensive joke.
It looks like 8, 9, 13 and 14 are closed for new seating
