Opened in 1953 by Robert Ellery, the Gem City Drive-In could accomodate about 500 cars, and was located on 36th Street. The Gem City, with a single screen, was operated for many years by the Kerasotes chain. It closed in 1971, and was later demolished to make way for an expansion of a nearby school. The Quincy Drive-In, the Quincy area's other outdoor theater, was located across the Mississippi River in West Quincy, Missouri.

Any pictures?? My dad and I can remember this being in operation but he believes it was on 36th Street (in this area) and was demolished to make room for the new Quincy Senior High II. He said it was the better of the 2 drive-ins in Quincy.
