B & B Twin Drive-In

The Twin Drive-In was opened on November 24, 1965 with Elvis Presley in “Harum Scarum”, Jay North in “Zebra in the Kitchen” & Gregory Peck in “Mirage” on Screen 1 and James Caan in “Red Line 7000”, Tony Randall in “Fluffy” & Marlon Brando in “One Eyed Jacks” on Screen 2. Today it screens a double bill on each of its two screens. The two screens have a total capacity of 1,400 cars. There are late shows on Friday and Saturday with a repeat screening of the first feature. Audio is provided through FM radio.

The Twin Drive-In was operated by the independent Globe Cinemas company and operates during summer months. It was taken over by B & B Theatres in 2015 and was closed on November 17, 2024.

My 1969 IMPA erroneously lists the “Twin I & II” under Kansas City MO, capacity 1700. That error persisted through at least the 1976 edition. The 1982 edition was more accurate, listing it in Independence with 2 x 850 capacity.

Opened on 24/11/1965 with on screen 1 with “Harum scarum” and “Zebra in the kitchen” and “Mirage” and on screen 2 with “Red line 7000”, and “Fluffy” and “One-Eyed Jacks”. 1600 cars. Playground removed in 2002. Digital projectors opened on both screens in 2014.

The marquee is seen at the begining of an episode of the tv series “American Pickers”( Cowzilla in Colorado).
