Opening the State theatre of beauty. I worked here as a relief manager during 1968 and 1969 when Bill Weir was away on holiday, others being the Gaumont Lewisham, Astoria’s Finsbury Park & Streatham and New Victoria. As with all large cinemas in those days there were always support staff (secretaries) that kept all the paper work rolling. I remember at the State it was Vera Breeze, who like the others did the wages/NHI, advertising blocks to the various papers, staff, running times, plus immense support to young managers like myself. I kept in contact with Vera for many years. Thank you Vera.
