Oct 18, 1967 Photo taken by James Martin and also credited to SFMemory.org/sfm005-10178. Construction of BART (and Civic Center station underneath the Embassy and Strand) necessitated that signage, theater blades and marquees be placed flat against the front of the buildings.

A sad day for SF Market ST Theatres that had to take down or make their marquees flat. They say to make Market ST better looking. Thanks James Martin & Steve. At least the huge Fox Theatre up the street did not have to do this they already tore her down a big mistake.
