This November 17, 1963 fire at the neighbor of the Kenyon Theatre (the Kenyon marquee is visible in the lower left side of the photo) should have ended the theater which was already destined for demolition… except for the great work of the Philadelphia Fire Department. 400 patrons made it our safely and the Kenyon was able to resume shows the next day without any damage.
