Thanks to the founders of this site as I was thrilled to see that you have posted my Fox comments concerning the 75th anniversary celebration on Dec. 26th along with a wonderful color postcard photo. I hope to attend the event on Sunday!

I’ll be at the open house tomorrow and will be wearing a nametag CINEMATREASURES.ORG with my name beneath PATSY so if anyone sees me, be sure to say hello!

I wonder how many of you know of the ‘political’ decision that denied the Fox of the world premiere of Gone With The Wind? As I heard some time ago, Loews owned the downtown Grand Theatre, but only leased the Fox at the time that GWTW came long. As it was compamy policy that Loews would only screen this important movie at theatres that they actually owned – the Fox missed out! I would be interested if any one can elaborate on this. By the way, when did the Grand close amd what happened to the site?

These are great questions and the answers would be of great interest to us all so hope that someone can elaborate on it all. The 2 hour video that was narrated by Hal Holbrook alludes to the GWTW-Fox saga. BTW, I haven’t had time to put my thoughts together on my visit to the Fox for the 75th anniversary open house, but for now I will just say that I met the organizt in residence, Larry Embury and that was a thrill of a lifetime!

And of course there was many magnificient concerts. My last was John Fogarty in 96 or 97 (awesome in the balcony) and the most memorable for me being the Grateful Dead on Oct 30 , 1985. They opened with Kansas City to celebrate the KC Royals winning the World series the night before. For stage theater – Les Miserables was good too.

Cheers
