New theater-only size of Flicks

The nostalgic chocolate-flavored wafers by Flicks® Candy are now available in a larger package specifically for movie theater concession sales.

The traditional retail tube of Flicks Candy contained 1.375 ounces; The new three-ounce Movie Pack offers more candy per unit and easily fits into the modern-day movie theaters price point.

The retail size tubes are available across the USA in stores including select Cost Plus World Markets; Bed, Bath & Beyond stores; Walgreens; and Raleys Supermarkets. Several movie theaters also carry the smaller retail size, but the Tjerrild family, owners of Flicks Candy, hope those theaters will switch to the new Movie Pack size, plus bring more movie theaters on board as customers.

Flicks Candy has a unique following. It was originally sold in movie theaters throughout the west and mid-west from 1904-1989. Then the brightly colored tubes of candy disappeared for fifteen years, until 2004 when the Tjerrild family resurrected the much-loved candy.

The 3 oz. Movie Pack is available in an assortment of four different tube colors (red, yellow, green, and blue) with the same type of candy in every tube. The new packaging is a larger diameter cardboard tube with plastic end caps, in a shrink sleeve with copy that reads “We hope you enjoy the movie!” The packaging also encourages customers to go online and sign the guest book on the candy company’s website.

Generations of yesteryear continue to contact the Flicks Candy factory in Fresno, CA to thank them for bringing back one of their favorite candies.

“We’ve received hundreds of emails from people who remember getting Flicks Candy at the movies,” said one of the owners, Diane Tjerrild. Our online guestbook is full of delightful memories people submitted, about which movies they saw while they ate their candy and who bought their Flicks Candy for them. This nostalgic candy has a fond past for many people, and now new generations are enjoying our candy as well.

Diane’s partners, brother Jim Tjerrild and their father Bill Tjerrild, are both mechanical engineers specializing in the design and manufacture of custom chocolate equipment and cooling tunnels for other chocolate manufacturers. Now they find themselves busy with their own chocolate factory’s growing pains.

“We’ve just added a complete chocolate processing line to our factory to produce Flicks Nonpareils,” said Jim Tjerrild. “Plus we are constantly designing and building better, faster packaging equipment to keep up with the orders.”

Movie theaters interested in carrying the new three-ounce Flicks Candy Movie Packs should contact their local distributor or Flicks Candy directly at: www.FlicksCandy.com.
