KINGMAN, AZ — Closed almost one year ago by Cinemark, the only theater in this Mojave Desert city will reopen December 12th with a new owner.
“The Movies”, a four-screen multiplex, is being reopened by a former engineering director for Mann theaters who also owned his own theater supply company and operates a theater in California.
He has partnered with Brenden Theaters, which will handle film bookings, while he manages operations. Brenden runs the Avi Theater in Laughlin, Nevada, which is the closest open theater to Kingman.
However, competition will heat up next year as Cinemark is building a nearby eight-screen theater with a planned opening date of next summer.
