Porn films burnt at 60-year-old drive-in

JACKSONVILLE, FL — A congregation that bought an old drive-in theater found at least a hundred reels of X-rated movies and burnt them.
Church members held a special ceremonial service last Sunday where they burned the decades-old porn, saying that they were making the unholy property holy. Firefighters oversaw the blaze.
The Christ Church Anglican bought the 13-acre drive-in for $1.5 million after the 60-year-old theater closed in May. Members discovered the porn when they began cleaning up the property.
The 300-member church plans to show family movies to the public when the drive-in reopens.

What a waste of good porn!
hahaha i was working down at the jersey shore and down under the boardwalk there was countless reels of 70’s porno films where the theater use to store equipment, they were water damaged and rusted but it was still kinda weird and funny to think how much smut was under the shrek doll game

First, what a waste, I mean I worked in a porn theatre for 11 years. I have some old stuff in my possesion. As was stated, some of that stuff you probably cant find. Second, all that stuff was on safety film. They must have had some real good excellerent to get it to burn. All it probably did was molt into a big curled up blob.
On another site it stated the film was damaged and could not be run from water damage and age.

If the firefighters are representatives of the state, and were present at a religious group’s pornburn, is not the issue of church/state separation raised? Would this fire department oversee the blaze if the church was burning copies of Harry Potter, Plato, the Qu'ran, or The Diary of Anne Frank?
This was a silly thing to do.

Whether people liked the porn films or not, it was foolish and dangerous to burn them, nonetheless.
First Amendment Rights are at stake, first of all.
Secondly, those who decided to burn those porn films are polluting the air and endangering the public, if one gets the drift.
It’s a pity… they should have sold their naughty flicks to an always hungry market in “Baghdad-by-the-Bay,” namely San Francisco!
And behold, their bank balance would have been blessed in more lovely dollars.
Real dumb-could have been some rare stuff in there- I’ve been searching for a lot of Gerard Damiano’s films-can’t find them anywhere. Art is Art- It’s ironic how sex is always looked down upon and viloence is glorified-hence the burning and fire- did they invite Satan?
