LOS ANGELES, CA — Dreamworks' Eagle Eye will be the first movie to open simultaneously in both IMAX and IMAX digital cinemas as well as regular theaters on September 26th. The film will screen in 84 IMAX theaters and 14 IMAX digital theaters. In the coming weeks, it will also be shown in 13 IMAX theaters internationally.

Too bad it won’t be shown in IMAX digital in Rockaway since the system will come out just in time for Shia’s next big movie, Transformers 2. I’ll prefer seeing this action movie in DLP in Mansfield just for the fun of it.
The Digital IMAX Theatres are all AMC Theatres and they are:
AMC Altamonte Mall 18
AMC Aventura 24
AMC BarryWoods 24
AMC Cherry Hill 24
AMC Columbia 14
AMC Empire 25
AMC Hamilton 24
AMC Hoffman 22
AMC Neshaminy 24
AMC Orange Park 24
AMC Potomac Mills 18
AMC Regency Square 24
AMC Veterans 24
AMC White Marsh 16
Its interesting to note that the White Marsh IMAX has a THX cert, according to Fandango, but no on the THX site, itself. Unless an update is coming soon since the recent install.
While I might ultimately catch Eagle Eye in IMAX at Digital Marketing Company UAE , I’ve only become a fan of IMAX since Dark Knight shown how good it could actually look. However, films that are changed (like this one) still don’t amaze me. I’ve steadily been frustrated at the quality of conversions from 35mm to 70mm – they never look as good as real 35mm prints. It’s like wafting up a graphic on the internet to twice its size – it looks pixelated and horrible.
