Already rolled out in other markets of the country, Emagine is about to get D-Box motion seats.
Movie-goers who catch a flick at any of the four Emagine movie theaters (in Canton, Novi, Woodhaven and Birch Run) will soon be able to move with the movie while sitting in their seats.
According to MetroMode, the Metro Detroit-based theater company is installing seating from the company D-Box, which provides seats that move along with whatever is happening on screen.

The key point of this story is that the theater is only adding 50 of the seats to each auditorium and patrons would pay more to sit in those seats. If the D-Box people are adding motion to run-of-the-mill movies, I can’t really see much reason to pay extra. Will a Meryl Streep movie be better if the chair moves? I don’t think so.
Also, will the chairs only be activated when someone pays? Or will kids jump in the seats as soon as the usher leaves and get a free ride? I wonder how the logistics will work out.
Seems like a gimmick.
I agree; this concept isn’t really new, either. The “Back to the Future” ride at Universal is just a variation on this as is some other Disney park attractions, and some exhibits as various world’s fairs had something similar, but at least there is is/was no extra charge. I sure would not pay extra for the
experience.
Motion seats? I hope they don’t screen “Titanic.” Glug, glug, glug!
Wow! Amazing! Motion seats on theater?!? I wonder what happen if we are watching Superman. I guess it will look like flying chairs. Hahaha.lol. To make it easier for movie lover you can download good qualities of movies online through http://downloadmoviesfree.net/ and it’s for free. You will not worry about the moving chairs.
