Santa Barbara Drive-In reopens tonight
GOLETA, CA — After nearly 20 years dark, tonight the Santa Barbara Drive-In will be opening its remaining screen to show “Iron Man 2” with showtimes at 8:00pm and 10:25pm. Come early for the 8pm show as it will definitely be crowded, gates will open between 6-6:30pm depending on lines. Various films to show throughout the summer season.
General Admission is $6.75 and children 5-11 are only $1. CASH ONLY.
Enjoy Iron Man 2 from the comfort of your own car through your FM car stereo or portable FM radio. This is not the same old drive-in with dim pictures and window speakers. New projection and sound equipment has been installed for a brighter, crisper image and Dolby Stereo sound.
The snack bar has all your favorite Drive-In snacks including Pizzas, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Corn Dogs, Churros, Popcorn, Pepsi and more.

This is great news! I’ve seen that drive-in before when it was closed. Let’s hope for a great turn out of people. Those admission prices are good.
One of only 3 or 4 drive-ins I’ve ever been to. A group of us piled into my buddy’s van and went there during our days at UCSB in the late ‘70s. While I never enjoyed drive-ins as much as the darkened theatre experience (primarily because of poor sound and mediocre picture quality), hopefully these bastions of Americana will see a revival…
Must have been a great night, seeing this new film on a 88 foot wide screen. Yes Drive-Ins are coming back. Many new ones have opened in the last few years. Wal Mart took out many in the 70’s but many even older closed ones are coming back on. I think the Santa Barbara area has another Drive-In still closed.
Let’s hope some of the Boston-area drive-in theatres also make a come-back!
Wow! I must (finally) take a trip to Santa Barbara soon!
