Baby Grand Piano from the Poli Theater for sale

Interesting for sale listing looking for some research help as well…

I am trying to sell this piano that has been in the family since about 1928. The Piano was bought for my mother by her father who worked for the FBI so I guess he knew someone who knew someone. It was purchased for $500.00 from the Loew’s Poli Theatre in New Haven, CT.

I would like to make sure the dates I have attached are accurate. The story went…. My Grandfather wanted her to play when she grew up and the piano was being sold by the theater so he bought it for her even thought was only 1 or 2 years old. I wish we had known more about this piano before they were both gone and could have this documented somewhere. All I can prove is that it was the story we were always told about the piano by my grandparents and then my parents.

Does anyone have any pictures of the inside of the theatre as there is nothing online and I would like to see the piano in the theatre?

My parents are now gone and we have to sell the piano as no one has the room for it and the house has sold.

I would like to see pix too. I would go to the New Haven Free Public Library, Tax Assessors Office and the New Haven Historical Society to see if they can help you with pictures. I doubt pix of the piano inside the theater will be in good quality or even exist. Stories help, though. Get it appraised and keep us abreast.
