SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop, owners of the historic 1923 Rivoli Theater on Main Street in South Fallsburg, has announced that first-run movies will return to the theater beginning on Friday, June 29th!

“We’re thrilled to augment our exciting schedule of live plays and musicals with a movie program”, said workshop Board Member Jackie Perito. “We’re going to run movies all summer at times when we do not have a live event going on at the theater”.

Bringing movies back to the Rivoli marks the first time the theater has shown films since the late 1990’s, and is the only operating theater in Eastern Sullivan County. “The Rivoli will also be the lowest price first-run theater in the area, with ticket prices at $7.00 for all seats, all times” said Perito. The theater also has the lowest snack prices in the area.

The theater boasts a brand new big screen, new movie projector, and new popcorn machine.

First up is DreamWorks hit “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted”, unspooling on the 29th. Upcoming titles include “The Amazing Spider-Man”, “Ice Age: Continental Drift”, and “The Dark Knight Rises”. “We’re going to show great movies for the whole family at affordable prices”, Perito added. “With gas prices the way they are, we feel that we present a great alternative to driving for miles just to see a movie.” Proceeds from the movie program are earmarked to help fund the ongoing effort to restore the theater’s classic neon-and-stud-light marquee.

Movie times, along with the latest Live Event times can be found on the workshop’s website at www.scdw.net, or by calling the Rivoli at (845) 436-5336.
