Iconic Istanbul theatre facing demolition

ISTANBUL, TURKEY — The oldest theatre in town, the 1924 Emek Sinemasi is in danger of being torn down completely by a developer. The site has been a source of history for the country as a headquarters for revolts and protests of the years. Now the protests are about the fate of the theatre as plans are in motion to tear it down and build an entertainment complex.
