CORTE MADERA, CA — The 1969 shopping center cinema, the Century Cinema has been listed for sale and a developer is supposedly in the process of purchasing it to demolish it. The single-screen gem represents a style rarely seen in existing theaters and is a favorite of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, holding many important test screenings over the years.

So why dont Lucas or Spielberg buy it and save it?
Seconded!
“So why don’t Lucas or Spielberg buy it and save it?”"
That’s a good question. They probably should. Even though I’m not a resident of this area, I favor the right of the town/city to have its own movie theatre for people to enjoy.
Better go fast the wreckers are waiting. When they first opened they had a large semi curved screen with curtains, then for some reason when Pacific took over the lease they made the screen smaller. Century was to put in one of their large EX type screens but that won’t happen now. Keep the theatre and build on the parking lot.
