    Mysterious Odeon item

For ten years, I’ve owned the most fantastic object. It’s a stainless steel tablespoon. It was originally owned by my late grandmother, and my mother has no idea where she got it.

What makes this spoon so fantastic is what’s stamped on it. On the front of the handle is the ‘O’ logo of the original deco design. On the back, running up the handle, is stamped “ODEON THEATRES”.

Seeking endangered theater to transport & spare from demolition

After brokering a deal to spare NYC’s historic Cheyenne Diner from oblivion via transport to AL (in coming weeks), I am now seeking a historic theater to spare from demolition. The joint project entails transporting a theater, that is preferably in imminent endangerment of demolition.

I have historic preservation investors lined up, who would be interested in transporting the historic facade and any interior architectural attributes, if not the entire interior.

To recommend theaters that fit the above criteria, please Michael Perlman.

    Thank you!

    Processor problems

I have a CP-55 that for some reason is producing ‘pops’ and ‘clicks’ once in a while for no reason. This happens in all formats including ‘non sync’ when we are running a cd player with background music…all speakers are affected including surround speakers….it doesn’t happen all the time…just when it wants to..even when the shows are on…it sounds like an occasional ‘thump’. Any ideas as to which card is dying?

Also, if anyone has a CP500, 650 or CP65 and DA20 for sale, please let me know!
    Thanks.

    Drive-In theater start-up questions

Hey I’m new to Cinema Treasures and I need to see if anyone can help me out or point me to some good resources? I’m trying to construct and open a drive-in movie theater and I need some assistance finding start-up costs.

Mainly I need help with projectors and screens. Projectors: Where can I find projectors for purchase, which projector will I need, go with digital or not, and cost to expect? Screens: Can used screens be purchased and relocated, are there plans for screen construction somewhere, best way to build a quality screen while keeping cost as low as possible?

Any help, suggested resources, or mention of possible hidden costs will be extremely helpful.

    Thanks,
    Jesse

Original 1940’s silk movie promo banners

I have recently acquired a fabulous collection of original 1940’s silk movie banners. They all measure around 3'x 5', have wood dowels with painted gold fineals, braided silk hang lines with tassels and tassel along the bottom.

They are silk screened 3~4 color on silk and really have a great look. The collection consists of 42 banners of early 40’s first and second movies. A few of the titles: “Strike up the Band” Mickey Rooney & Judy Garland, “The Philadelphia Story”, “Seven Sinners” John Wayne & Marlene Dietrich, “If I Had my Way” Bing Crosby & Gloria Jean and many more.

Trying to research accurate history, value etc. has proven difficult and limited. I’m pretty sure that they were made in Hollywood, CA by a company named Hollywood Banners that is still in buisness in N.Y. www.hollywoodbanners.com (archives).

I’ve been searching the internet for almost a year now and can’t locate anything similar. Does anyone know about these great movie history theatre promo pieces?

    Theater building cost?

I was just wondering if anyone out there has built a single screen theater, and how much did it really cost? I am talking actually, not maybe this or that. I have been interested for quite sometime now, and an option for a sight has recently popped up here in Northern California.

Any info would be great. I appreciate all responses .
    Thanks

    Getting the reels?

I am absolutely brand spanking new to this. How does one secure the rights, and get the reels to show at a theater? I’ve looked on the internet, and haven’t come up with a thing. Can anyone help me to understand what I am doing so I can do it well?

    Thanks,

    Joanne Conger
