ca. 1915 projection equipment
Hello folks: I am helping to rehab a theatre built in 1914 to show silent movies. I found a 1923 listing of the equipment that was in the theatre at the time, and the list included “1 superlit screen,” “2 powers 6-A projectors,” “2-1 sheet adv. magazine,” and “1 rewind.” I can figure out the rewind, but I’m wondering if anyone on this list can tell me more about the screen, projectors, and adv. machine.
Thanks!

Cinema Documentary help
I am a Student studying Video Production and I’m making a documentary.
My group and I have decided to base our project on the Movie and Cinema industry in the UK. It will be called “Inside Cinema” and it will include the following points;
- Development of Cinema from the 1980s onwards; it will show the cross over to Multiplex style cinemas
- The growth and popularity of Film viewing in the UK and show vox pops from Film watchers
- Interview with a past employee of Warner Brothers in the 1980s
- Montage of Clips from films and locations of cinemas around the country.
- Finally, with the term Credit Crunch being widely used, how is the Cinema/Movie Industry feeling the pinch.

Looking for 450 seats for damaged theatre
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA — Our theater was damaged by the severe 2008 floods. The intense flooding submereged not only all of the seats in our house, but also covered our stage.
Our current space has been completely gutted and clean up work is in progress. We have had to move to a temporary location and are looking to acquire 450 seats. Please let me know if anyone out there would be able to help.

Extra/Ordinary Film Project, with many festival wins, is looking for a series of theaters around the country to champion their 12th feature film and give it a short run. It premiered to sold out crowds in Shelbyville and Nashville, TN. The company is willing to do press and appearances to promote the event. This film is PG-13 with mass appeal.
Check out the website for pics and a preview, or call the Cinematographer and Editor, Tracy Cring, 615-715-1384.

Providers of weekly box office info
I heard that some local theater managers working for the largest chains can access box office earnings online sorted by individual theaters. Is this correct? Anybody ever seen this data? If so, what company provides it?
I heard that the top grossing theater in America is the AMC Empire, Times Square, NYC. Is this true?
Thanks Much.

Whiteside Theatre in Oregon seeks volunteers for restoration
CORVALLIS OR — The Whiteside Theatre is reaching out to volunteers who would like to participate in the restoration of what was once the second biggest theatre in Oregon.
The theatre opened in 1922 and functioned as a single screen movie palace until its closure in 2002. Owner Regal Entertainment Corporation entertained an attempt in 2006 to convert the theatre to a retail complex, leaving only the exterior intact. In February 2007 the city council approved the plan. The Whiteside Theatre Foundation successfully fended off the proposal and eventually convinced Regal Entertainment to donate the theatre to the foundation.
Although the theatre has suffered the ravages of time, most of the original features remain intact. The tile and wood floors of the theatre have been covered with carpet but little else has changed. A complete description of the theatre’s present state can be found at the Puget Sound Theatre Organ Society.

Eye Pay You Take It Ticket Box Machine circa 1941
Hello,
I am looking for information on the Eye Pay You Take It Ticket Box machine that was in theaters in the 1940’s. The machine dispensed gold tokens and was a checking device for theater admissions. It was produced by EyePay Inc. Chicago, IL. I have not been successful in finding a lot of information on this device. I would appreciate any help or info.
Thanks!
John
