Morristown movie theater set to close next week but negotiations continue
MORRISTOWN, NJ — Bow Tie Cinemas might have acquired Clearview Cinemas the other week but not every theatre was included. The Headquarters 10 is in limbo because its lease is expiring shortly and the owners haven’t finalized negotiations with Bow Tie to assume the space.

Hayden theater turning lights off
HAYDEN, ID — The Hayden Cinema 6 has closed after 15 years in business. No specific reason was given but an inability to convert to digital seems likely.

CARBONDALE, CO and LEBANON, OR — Theater continue with the struggle to convert to digital. The Crystal Theatre is holding a movie memorabilia sale this weekend while the Kuhn has launched a kickstarter campaign.

Famous author to reopen Cocteau
SANTA FE, NM — George R.R. Martin of “Game of Thrones” fame, has purchased the Cocteau Cinema with plans to reopen. While he will not personally operate, the Santa Fe resident wanted to give something back to the community by reopening the neighborhood theatre that’s been closed since 2006.

Frazer movie theater closes
EAST WHITELAND, PA — Only opening in 1999, the UA East Whiteland closed last week. They plan to tear it down for a Toyota dealership.

Support Old Greenbelt Theatre
GREENBELT, MD — The Old Greenbelt Theatre is one of the many D.C.-area historic places in contention for $1 Million in grant money. They need your help so they can complete essential renovations. Go to Partners in Preservation to vote through May 10.

A new beginning for old Teaneck movie theater
TEANECK, NJ — Shuttered last November, the Cedar Lane Cinemas is making a comeback. Apparently, it’ll be better than ever with new seats, floors, and of course, projection. The owner of the Sayville Theater saw an opportunity and now has a 20-year lease.

Save Our Community Theater Site
A new site, Save Our Community Theaters, has popped up to help theaters make the conversion to digital. While the commission is a bit higher than Kickstarter they offer additional services such as PR assistance and guidance with social media.
