Closing of the Leesburg Tally Ho Theatre
LEESBURG, VA — The 81-year old Tally Ho Theatre in downtown Leesburg is set to close just after Labor Day, a victim of the shift to digital projection presentation only demanded by the major studios. The organization managing the property are contemplating using the site for live performances on the order of the State Theatre in Falls Church.

Alamo to takeover New Mission
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco is getting its first Alamo Drafthouse and even better, in the long-shuttered New Mission Theater. The theatre will be converted into a five-screen with all auditoriums featuring the typical Alamo dining amenities.

Ritz celebrates 85 years
THOMASTON, GA — The Ritz Theatre is celebrating 85 years in business tomorrow with a celebration. It’ll feature live entertainment and a film retrospective. Hopefully, they can raise enough money to upgrade their facilities to last another 85.

Westfield Hawthorn Mall expansion plan includes movie theater
VERNON HILL, IL — A new addition to the Hawthorn Mall has a 12-screen theater as its centerpiece. Local officials are still mulling over the plans and Westfield is not at liberty to mention the potential operator.

Petoskey to conduct downtown theater study
PETOSKEY, MI — Without a downtown cinema since the Gaslight closed ten years ago, Petoskey is looking at the feasibility of bringing one back. With help from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Rural Business Enterprise Grants program, they’re researching whether their robust downtown along with potential additional parking could support a theater.
