Sedona gets new theater for independent and art films affiliated with area film festival
SEDONA, AZ — Audiences are raving about the new Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona. As the new home to the Sedona International Film Festival, they screen many independent films there not shown anywhere else in the area. Their membership numbers are stellar already and with a liquor license on the way they’ll only grow.

Drive-In Super Monster-Rama 2012
VANDERGRIFT, PA — Presented by DVD Drive-In, the sixth annual Drive-In Super Monster-Rama will once again take place at the Riverside Drive-In Theatre on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8. Admission is still only $10 a person each night (kids 12 and under free with adult guardian). There will also be an overnight camping option on both nights.
This year, the all 35mm retro shock show will include the following uncut features on Friday: “Theatre of Blood”, “Horror House”, “Equinox” and “Son of Blob” and on Saturday: “Twins of Evil”, “Countess Dracula”, “Raw Meat” and “Psychomania”. Also included are vintage exploitation and horror trailers, cartoons, shorts and concession stand adverts from yesteryear!

Budget Cinema to remain open for immediate future
GREENFIELD, WI — The Budget Cinema that was once slated for demolition seems to be set to stay for the time being. The second-run theater is expected to extend its lease for another two years as local development has slowed.

Brunswick theater owner pins hopes on expansion plan
BRUNSWICK, ME — The owner of the Eveningstar Cinema is looking for support in building a new four-screen theater at Brunswick Station. Patrons are behind it but he needs financial assistance to make it a reality. Without a new location, his current theatre may close since he hasn’t been able to make the jump to digital.

Dolby reveals theaters set to install Atmos
Dolby has announced the initial locations for its new sound endeavor hinted at last month. 16 theaters in North America including the Dolby Theatre, home to the Academy Awards, will install the system that promises up to 128 simultaneous audio channels.

New movie theater coming to Bonita Springs
BONITA SPRINGS, FL — The plaza at Chamber of Commerce Drive has been a troublesome spot for movie theaters the past decade. However, a new owner is taking over the former Prado Cinema Cade with plans to add comfy chairs along with a full menu with alcohol.

New cinema, facelift coming to Apple Blossom Mall
WINCHESTER, VA — A new Carmike Cinemas theater is going to be the centerpiece of the renovated Apple Blossom Mall. The 12 screen theatre will feature Carmike’s BIGD auditorium with 7.1 surround sound.
