Supporters rally to save Portage Theater
CHICAGO, IL — Chicagoans came out in numbers Monday night to fight for the future of the Portage Theater. They’re trying to prevent a church from purchasing it so it can continue to show films regularly. They’re urging people to contact the Zoning Board of Appeals and voice your opinion.

Miracle Twin DI in Burton MI being torn down while the nearby US 23 DI announced April 6 for its season opening
BURTON, MI — Demolition is underway on the Miracle Twin Drive-in Theatre which first opened in 1973 and closed permanently after Labor Day of 2008. The drive-in was operated by National Amusements and was among the last National Amusements drive-ins to close permanently along with the Kenwood Drive-in. This leaves the Flint, MI area with only the US 23 Drive-in Theatre which will open for the season on April 6.

Nonprofit calls for volunteers, ramps up efforts to restore historic Ritz Theatre
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — A recent concert signifies movement on the restoration of the long vacant Ritz Theatre. The plan is to open the theatre in five years but they’re looking for people to join committees to assist in the efforts.

Crystal Cathedral’s Schuller Coleman heads to movie theater
ORANGE, CA — A church that started as a drive-in came full circle when the pastor relocated the congregation to a theatre in the local AMC. The church is starting from scratch and hoping for non-profit status.

NoHo gets another new indy cinema
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — It started with the recent opening of the new NoHo 7, but the NoHo Arts District is getting another new theatre. The more intimate North Hollywood Independent Films Movie Theatre opens next month and promises to provide a unique experience that brings its moviegoers even closer to the independent filmmakers of Los Angeles.

Church wants to buy Chicago’s Portage Theater

Princess reopens tomorrow
HARRIMAN, TN— The Princess Theatre will officially reopen on March 22, 2012! A two-day event is planned with local music and dedications to be done on Thursday March 22nd, and Marshall Tucker will play on Saturday March 24th. Both events were sold out in 3 hours!
The theater will be jointly owned by the Princess Foundation and Roane State Community College. Roane State will provide the managerial staff and the cleaning staff.
