Lewisburg celebrates reopening of theater
LEWISBURG, PA — The 70 year-old Campus Theatre just reopened after a six month, $2.5 Million renovation and the town couldn’t be happier. The integral institution now has a refurbished projection and sound system along with other amenities.

Pastor plans to renovate old Cleve movie theater
COLUMBUS, OH — The long shuttered Cleve Theater is getting a facelift thanks to a local pastor. The plan is for it to be a performing arts center following an extensive renovation.

Dedham kid learns basics of running a movie theater
DEDHAM, MA — In Wicked Local a 6 year-old kid gets to embrace his dreams as he learns the ins and outs of theater operation at the Dedham Community Theatre. His goal is to own a theater one day and through his interview with its owner, he finds out about some of the challenges.

Carmike to purchase Atlanta-area chain
According to the Ledger Enquirer, Carmike is taking over the small Georgia chain, MNM Theatres. It shoudn’t be that rough of a transition though as the leading MNM executive will still operate them for at least the next five years and Carmike will pay to convert all their screens to digital.

Planning on Kings has begun
BROOKLYN, NY — After being chosen to restore the Loew’s Kings last year, ACE Theatrical Group has been inside the theatre investigating how to transform it back to its grandeur. They plan to add spaces to make it more viable for live theatre and have the work done by 2014.

Ultra-modern movie theater centerpiece of upscale development in Richmond
RICHMOND, TX — The 100 year-old Santikos Theatres is expanding into the Houston market with a new multiplex. Besides the usual upscale amenities like oversized screens and plush seats, the theatre will also be built in a Greek Renaissance-style with 130-foot ceilings in the lobby.

Ezat Delijani, L.A. developer, philanthropist dies
LOS ANGELES, CA — Ezat Delijani, owner of numerous Broadway theaters like the Los Angeles, Palace, State and Tower, passed away over the weekend. If it weren’t for him, who knows if these theaters would have ever been saved.

Mass. theater’s science film series goes national
BROOKLINE, MA — The ever popular “Science on Screen” series from the Coolidge Corner Theatre is going national thanks to a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The recipe for engaging audiences through education has been fine tuned by the Coolidge and now we’ll be able to see the effects of that program nationwide.
