Nice little theatre in Mesilla. Just watched the Manhattan Short Film Festival there. It operated by volunteers. Good to see the old still standing and in use today.
This theater is in the process of installing leather reclining seats. Right now the top half of the auditorium has these seats, while the bottom portion is empty and awaiting these new seats. I am hoping that some else can report on how many seats there were be after all are installed.
I really like this new theater, as the reclining seats are a great touch. Also like the discount pricing on Tuesdays at just $5.50 for most shows. Not sold on the Cooper auditorium though and really the like the America for the big screen experience.
This theater was originally opened and operated by Commonwealth and then United Artists before being sold to a local owner in the early 90s. Later in the mid to late 90s the theater was again sold to Carmike who operated it until their bankruptcy in the 2000s. After this the theater sat empty before being used a church and then later a second run discount house.
The owners (Movie Palaces) of a new Theater (Studio City® Mesa + ARQ® (West)) here in Casper, WY that opened on March 27, 2015 included one auditorium named after this theater. IT was built to emulate the Denver Cooper (it even features a glass showcase with memorabilia from the Denver Cooper). It features a large curved screen that is 65ft wide X 30ft tall. It also has large oversized leather seats. Tickets are reserved, rather than on a first-come-first served basis. This auditorium also features sound from Meyer Sound. The Movie Palaces has trademarked the technology in this auditorium as ARQ (Arc).
As listed at http://movie-theatre.org/usa/wy/wyoming.htm the Mesa at some point and time it was operated by Gibraltar Entertainment and later Commonwealth Amusements Corp.
In addition to parts of theater being torn down to make room for a Dick’s Sporting Goods, the rest of the theater is now part of an AT&T Wireless Store.

It is my understanding that Frontier Brewing was able to purchase this building, as long as they did not reopen it as a theater.

This theater features reserved seating with leather recliners in all auditoriums.
A recent mini-remodel added reclining leather seats to lower level of the theater and has closed off the upper balcony.
Just letting everyone know that they have changed out the seat in the Cooper auditorium to the reclining type.

As of October 1, 2010 this theater features bargain pricing on second-run movies.
This is actually owned by Movie Palaces Inc. or at least that is name listed at the bottom of their website.
