There is ample room to build a terrific entrance for a new tube exit/entrance below the theatre at street level. The actual entrance to the theatre is just on a small corner of the building. This latest news is very sad. Why cant developers see what destruction has been done on the same scale as this before. Surely the theatre can be incorporated into the new development. After all, an underground station is ‘underground’ NOT 5 floors above street level.
Over the weekend, pretty much everyone i spoke to about the Albert Hall said it was going to be turned into flats soon! What happened to its listing, any one?
Whats left of the facade is in a pretty bad state. None of the cinema is left except the main front wall. The cinema front windows are now replaced by ordinary windows to the flats behind.
Wow what a great photo! I want to go and investigate. I was always discovering unused parts of the theatre when i worked there in th early 80s. Like a child on a treasure hunt. LOL i think it was the Buger King or Boots they just demolished?
I really dont remember much about the presentation of the movies i saw here in the 70s and 80s but what kind of standard would you expect in these kind of cinemas back then.

What a fantastic looking place. Must great seeing movies here in big auditorium.
I love that idea of the theatre name strewn right across the street from building to building- ive never seen that before.
Beautiful facade.
Love that picture with a great view of the Palace as it should be seen!!!!

Great looking building.
Mr Roe you are on a roll here with the multiplexes!
Wow! Little things like that are so brilliant. Thanks. Thats Times Sq when it was Times Sq!!!
Is this the shopping mall on the south side of the green?
The most awful cinema experience you can imagine! Knock it down!
Great looking building but inside- cold as ice. Shouldnt be makeing way for redevelopment tho.
They have certainly smartened the place up since i was there in the late 90s to see the Broadway show ‘Harlem Nights’. Beautiful auditorium.
Its gone!
The lobby lights are still on!

This building looks better today than it proberbly has done in the last 20 years. All thanks to the pink pound.
