But according to an email I got from AMC as part of being a Moviewatcher, it will be in 3D on one screen and 2D on another. Maybe they’ll install it in house 8 just in time for that movie next week, and keep it playing for a few weeks until Ice Age 3 comes out. If it does well, then the next major 3D movie this summer, Final Destination 3D, will have to play in a 2D version.

The Barco models are what Clearview uses for its 2k presentations, although they might upgrade in the near future to 4k models.

The name “Primus” should be removed from the theater name as it makes no sense. It should be called Route 4 Tenplex.

According to what I read online…

the installation of the digital projection will begin at the end of this summer, just in time for the upcoming Avatar movie, and will slowly affect all theaters by 2012 or later.

Too bad they didn’t mentioned who played Darth Vader….the old Route 4 Tenplex was the Yankee Stadium of modern day movie theaters in North Jersey.

Hey Jezebel, how’s work going on the digital projection? I hope it’s installed for the upcoming Up movie in 3-D, although advance tickets say it’s not in 3d. If that’s true, then I’ll wait until Ice Age 3-D comes out.

Just came from from a 3:45 showing of Star Trek, and while I enjoyed the movie (a big improvement from other Trek movies and sci-fi prequels), there were a few issues before and during the movie. During the last few minutes of the pre-show, the sprint commercial that warns moviegoers to turn off their cell phones was interrupted near the end of the movie and was replaced by a blank screen while the same commercial aired, followed by the AMC Emergency Exit trailer and then an ad for Glenn Beck Live. Then music started playing (Movietunes) and the film started to begin. During the movie, the first 20 minutes of it, late into it, a fire alarm blared. At first I thought it was one of those new sound effects done by Ben Burtt for the new movie, but it turned out to be a siren. THankfully someone noticed it and walked to the manager’s office to turn it off, which thankfully was over as the movie got into gear. The projection was a bit blurry, especially during close-ups of the crew and when the movie was in motion. The surround sound was top-notch, and the crowd behaved well and enjoyed the movie. Nearly packed house, I say. This movie will live long and prosper in this house!!!

This theater is notable for being mentioned in a blog post by a Hollywood comedian who complained about seeing “Star Trek” in the IMAX digital screen, which was added to this theater as part of the AMC-IMAX deal.

I think the Smithsonian IMAX will show Night at the Museum 2 since that takes place in the Smithsonian.

moviebuff82 commented about Regal Entertainment CFO Miles to become CEO on May 12, 2009 at 12:22 pm

I haven’t been to a Regal in like a few years, the only ones I’ve been to are the Regal Aviation 7 in Queensbury and the Hadley Center 16 plex, both of which pale in comparison with AMC, which is rapidly advancing with new technology and a CEO from a famous coffee company. AMC should be number one in a few years.

The lfexaminer website still lists AMC as getting an IMAX more than a month from now in the Rockaway theater. How is progress going on that? I can’t wait to see Transformers 2 and Harry Potter 6 in IMAX!!! Too bad Star Trek and Night at the Museum won’t be playing in that format!!!

moviebuff82 commented about Happy 10th anniversary, "Star Wars: Episode I"!!! on May 11, 2009 at 3:57 pm

I disagree with you Bill. Episode III was the best, since it tied the loose ends between the first trilogy and the classic trilogy by introducing Darth Vader’s birth. BTW, Darth Vader will return to the big screen as a cameo in the upcoming “Night at the Museum 2” movie, alongside Oscar the Grouch.

moviebuff82 commented about Happy 10th anniversary, "Star Wars: Episode I"!!! on May 8, 2009 at 11:37 am

This was the fourth time I saw a Star Wars movie in the theater. The other three were the original trilogy when it was re-released back in 1997, all at the Loews in Wayne and Secaucus (the first one at the Wayne, the second one at the Secaucus theater and the third at the Wayne). Episode I was at Clifton Commons, and I saw it with my late nana a few weeks after my dad and stepmom saw it while I was on vacation with a school group that week it opened. The movie was ok, but the sound wasn’t digital, it was Dolby Stereo, and I didn’t see it in one of the THX screens; this was at Clifton Commons the month that it opened (at that time it was more than a month old). The next Star Wars movie that I saw, Episode II, was at the Clearview in Mansfield on a DTS surround sound auditorium with razor sharp 35mm projection, and that had a decent love story but dragged on for too long. And finally, Episode III at Clearview in Sucasunna in their biggest house, and it was opening weekend on a Saturday with a huge crowd; I sat nearly close to the screen. Projection was so-so, but the surround sound (Dolby EX) was loud and bombastic. Thank god I didn’t go see Clone Wars at the AMC in Rockaway and stuck with watching the movie on DVD.
