Zeb it was a great theater. They started here and unfortunately didn’t stay.
I am not sure Howard if they used masking in all the theaters when the Regal here opened in Nov 2008. I want to say they did, but I know they definitely stopped when they went digital in 2012.
In the mid 60’s they got My Fair Lady after it played wherever it played in AC and in 1973 they got the move over of Last Tango In Paris after the Apollo closed in early August when the lease ran out. They also had Funny Lady all summer of 1975.
So I am curious do all the screens in this complex have masking? The Regal here doesn’t. Only 5 of the 15 screens do and only the ones that the masking opens horizontal. The other theaters do not have the vertical masking which I think is ridiculous.
With all the condos that have been built there is no reason this theater shouldn’t have taken off. Unfortunately except for Dan Marino’s Town Tavern the whole complex in general was a flop
I hated this drive in like all Floyd theaters. They wanted the screen full all the time so any movie in scope would be off to the sides of the screen in the bushes.
Walter K I had no clue about the high diving horse issue. From what I remember and probably you and Cindelphila remember those horses were treated great. These animal right activists need to get a damn life. They were the cause of the Ringling Bros circus folding. UGH
I would think that bringing in big name entertainment might work. I am not sure if any of the hotels have big name shows like Vegas they didn’t when they first opened, but I bet the one thing they do bring back is the high diving horse.
I agree Howard. Regal here also did away with using masking in the smaller theaters where the masking would be vertical. The large theaters that are wall to wall screens still use the horizontal masking. Epic Theaters a smaller chain was using masking a few years back even though the day I saw My Fair Lady they used the masking for the scope previews but not for MFL that was in 2.20. The RPX screen here at Regal annoys the hell out of me. I have seen two films in it Sully and Beauty And The Beast And both were presented in 2.35 ratio on the RPX screen I did hear Wonder Women was shown on the full RPX screemn

Did they have a 70 MM print Johnny 62?
To me it seems AMC plans on continuing their lease on t his theater. Any thoughts?
I am amazed that AMC has not sold or closed this theater since they hate operating single screen theaters. Point in case Lowes 72nd East in NYC

Why would City Cinemas want to redevelop this property if it’s profitable.
