When i first heard about this theater I thought it was a new theater built from the ground up, upon reading stuff about it online i knew that the original theater became the lobby when it moved to the left and 25 screens were added to the building. It remains the largest multiplex in the tri-state area with the most screens and the busiest theater in the USA. It is also notorious for its never ending escalators and bed bugs.
This weekend Bohemian Rhapsody shares the dolby cinema with Disney’s version of the Nutcracker while the Imax has the Queen movie. Suspiria is not playing here but is playing in East Hanover and in Paramus as it is a limited release movie and will expand soon based on great word of mouth. Meanwhile ticket prices continue to go up and up as well as concessions….
How is the dolby at this theater compared to the one where i live in rockaway? I know it’s bigger since it used to be the THX certified Loews auditorium and is in a higher traffic area than Rockaway since it’s in Manhattan.
I wonder if this will be the largest Dolby Cinema in the US, as the Odeon Leicester Square will break the record for largest Dolby Cinema in the world.
The seat count of this theater should be reduced on this page since Imax was installed and later dolby cut down the number of seats. I can’t wait until the imax gets renovated with new seats and laser and audio upgrades…
What were your thoughts on thriller in imax 3d playing before house with a clock in its walls? The video was remastered from the original 35mm print and converted into 3d. I saw clips online and its a flat ratio . This print was used for screening before fantasia in one movie theater in order for the film to be nominated for an Oscar for best short subject but was rejected by the academy.
Same thing with venom. That movie did quite well even with competition from the r rated remake of star is born. First Man next Friday won’t be shown in 70mm but laser imax with the classic imax ratio.

Nice name for a theater. Glad that this theater has been around while others like the Fox and Oritani, are gone.

Prime at AMC is now at this theater.
All 14 screens now complete. Theater is still advertised as a loews but that will change soon.
It will be worth the trip as my local dolby cinema in rockaway has fewer seats than the Imax and a regular theater.
How many of the James Bond movies premiered here?

25 years ago today the nightmare before Xmas made its new york city debut here before expanding wide.
I wonder if this will get the imax laser upgrade next…kips bay is the oldest megaplex in this city.
Any update on dolbyv
With the closing of the showcase next month there will be no movie theatres in this town.
For real? Why?

Is it open yet
Too bad they are more expensive than a regular ticket yet u pay attention more to the movie than at home.

How about the seats?
Dolby cinema now at this theater.
Did this theater get affected by the hurricanes?
The producer of the first two star wars movies died today. Rest in peace gary Kurtz …
What is the highest grossing movie at this theater?
If projected properly, the image would be just as sharp as a Dolby Cinema print.
