I saw Forest Gump at a cinema somewhere along Ste Catherines in ‘94.
I’m pretty sure it was around there, anyhow, because we went to Nickels for dinner that night.
I was 14 at the time, and all I recall is going up a narrowish stairwell to a small box office, where the cinemas were. Does anyone know which theatre this might’ve been?
I read a newspaper article posted on Empress’s door that said they’d had to struggle to pay $400,000 (?) in backed taxes. They managed to save themselves at the 11th hour.
The Save the Empress Cultural Centre website is gone. Are they still waiting on funding or is this project dead?
I’ve comprised an album on Facebook devoted to Capitol.
It contains photographs and articles I’ve collected on
her. Please come see and leave comments—> View link
Does ANYBODY have a picture of this multiplex? It’s so hard to believe that despite 30+ years of operation, nobody seems to have posted any photographs of it online.
Can anybody help me?

The Bloor Cinema appeared in a season 1 episode of CBC’s “Being Erica” called “Mi Casa, Su Casa Loma”.
Not only did they set the scene by showing an exterior shot, but also Erica and friends inside.
The episode in question is available on online, with advertisements, for Canadians, here—> View link
