Hey Jillian This is great news. I contributed this story above. I unfortunately never was in any of the Milgram Theaters in Center City but remember them well. I was in the Yeadon many times and I think they may have owned the Tower on 69thst before it was sold to Ellis Theaters. theaterfanavl@gmail.com
Hey Bob.
Glad you are still around. Saw many movies there starting in 68 Yours Mine and Ours. In the porn era they did run a double feature Lady Sings the Blues and Mahogany for a few weeks than back to porn. I think after we saw YMAO, they put a new screen in. YMAO did not have any masking it was a screen that looked like maybe it had masking that came down for scope. Years later they had side masking and I believe top too.
Aeterna
yeah it was probably the first year I was there 94 when they had movies. The Byron Carlye was the theater I was thinking of. I saw Anger Management there. After Regal closed it it became a live theater and than a movie theater again but is probably closed now. I used to stay at the now demolished Deauville.
My first year there was 94 and the theater was open at least until the mid to last 90’s. They closed Regal opened a 4 screen theater around the corner. When it was a gym they kept videos and films on the screen while you worked out.
Thanks mOOse1111. Glad they are still open. I grew up there. Happy that the Tower is still in operation as a concert venue and the old 69th St after being closed for over 40 years is reopened for church plays.
Holy Cross was my church growing up.

It is MovieguyNYC. I heard Cinemark is doing the same thing.
Nooooo I hate to hear this. It was such a popular drive in
I didn’t think I would like the new marquee but it is awesome.
As many faults that AMC has I am glad they still use masking.
Was Beckett a Roadshow engagement? The Sand Pebbles was
years later that is the same corner the Shore was.
I thought Alamo went into bankruptcy and closed all their theaters. I know some were taken over by Sony in Texas
We would pass this on the way to the Philadelphia zoo
Thanks Papermoon4. Sigh.
It would be good to see this open again if it’s till intact.
Saw One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest there. It was a twin with large screens.
vindanpar The lower level theaters were horrible. My TV screen and living roon was bigger.

Yes, Stage Door theater in Coral Springs Opened there until Dee passed in 2015. Her daughter ran the CS theater but it’s now defunct too.

The auditorium is used for storage and all the walls and seats are removed and small business now occupy the space. SIGH

Based on the prior picture it looks like the masking comes down from the top for scope in Aud 4
This theater was always a popular cinema especially after GCC closed across the street.
Did they keep the large curved screen?

Howard is this theater still open? I saw on another post Studio Movie Grill was out of business.
What a shame there is no picture of that screen
