I going to try and get Robin or Nick to print me a copy. I would love to have that framed. I ain’t much of a photo critic, but that shot just does something to me,that all these others[ drive in pics] have not done. Guess it is just me.
I Know “THE RIGHT STUFF” played in 70mm I have some of the film a few clips. YOu have to look hard, but one who knows the theatre location can easily see it. They had a print stolen in COLUMBIA,S.C. on “RETURN” right out of the booth. Never heard the outcome. I had reel 4 or 5 of JAWS 2 that never got shipped and no one questioned,Gave it to Bill. When he left GCC Regency Mall he said the whole movie “CASINO” was left in the booth. Bet it is still there. Hey, you were a step up from TLSLOEWS and Me we weren’t projectionists. We got out at the right time.
Yes,and THUNDERBALL and YOU ONLY TWICE. also DR.NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. Sean Connery films. I saw where DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER was playing with something called ZIG ZAG here at the SKYVIEW Drive-in. I don’t ever recall any more ever being paired together.
Robin, DID YOU KNOW that our theatre,NATIONAL HILLS THEATRE.what is left of it has been on the NBC TODAY SHOW. Yep, as they talk about Tiger Woods at the Masters,in the backgroud is what is left of NATIONALHILLS THEATRE!!!! Is on Network TV.
I found a half page Grand opening on Columbia 1 and 2 from the Chroncile, but i don’t think it would fit the screen. It had NationalHills and the Imperial on it.
Well, if i can’t discuss theatre with Nick, Robin.or You it ain’t worth getting on.Still don’t know about Nick. I sent him several theatres to put on a month ago. Maybe I scared him off like with Robin.“quit sending us so many items”. I bet they would put a picture of your collection of pictures on CT.
It’s hard to believe we had nothing running in COLUMBIA 2 until “A STAR IS BORN” opened. I would say the longest run on a movie well over 2 months, for COLUMBIA 2.
You were working there,Robin when you all played “THE RIGHT STUFF” in 70mm.Bill swears he played"STORKER ACE" that Burt Reynolds racecar movie in 70mm.I don’t think we ever played a 70mm movie while i was there because it was the doorman’s job to carry the cans to the booth. A few years ago, I was in my cousin’s booth FOUR SEASONS CINEMAS[on CT] and his prints were coming in a CARDBOARD BOX. NO FILM CANS.Give me a break. That made it feel ilke a movie not some stinking DVD some are using!
What great review! I saw it at the age of 12 and became my favorite film. I had a book on Kubrick that showed sets he had built on the space station that were never in the final cut. I guess Mr. Kubrick never would have made a Director’s cut,but it would have been great to see what went in the trash. i found the original 1968 one-sheet in a theatre basement. That was a great find> like 100 christmas'.
That makes sense because Kansas City is larger than Augusta and we had 9 screens not including one in North Augusta and the five or six over in Aiken County,S.C. across the river.
i have been trying to tell the histories of the theatres I worked at by telling stories that happened.Often when i get fact wrong someone can correct it and usually does.It amazes me how someone far away in another state can inform me when i have a date or film wrong 35mm or 70mm. But i take it in good stride and try to be positive in the response.
Don’t worry about the credit I am just so glad to see it on.Another suggestion which I am FULL OF,would scan the front of the NATIONAL HILLS booklet i made. It has pictures of employees and some of the movies that played there. Also if you can put the Modjeska and Regency box office on. I know i am being quite pushy, but Ilove seeing these on. Also put some of the shots you took during ANNIE. Folks love seeing those pictures. I sent a few to Nick hoping he would put some on. Give you a break. And he said he would, but he does have alot to do in Tampa.
You guys didn’t run a soul off. I had a show call at 10 pm, Bill is taking care of a very old Aunt. I reaaly want to spend more time when i visit, Our 85-86 reunion ran well into the early hours. However, we were all much younger then too. I heck with Lisa. I wouldn’t beg. You all seem like nice folks to work with so I don’t know how it could have been something at work.
Now,you know that will be in the MAIL now!!!!!!

Well, i ain’t undoing any Loews theatres. I did drop one,so i guess it is like the old record charts.
Tlsloews,Wasn’t that a great shot of the old screen.
Did you the review on 2001?

I don’t remember too many 007’s being released as double features, especially the Roger Moore’s and on.
This Texas Drive-in parked 350 cars and was owned by Lester Dollison & Robinson.
In 1956 it parked 350 cars and was owned by Lester Souce.

like to add on the TetonVU Drive-in. In 1956 it parked 350 cars and was owned by Teton VU Corp: Vern Flecther.

I don’t know what Happened to Nick,Like Bill, he is taking care of a sick Aunt.As for Tlsloews, i don’t know what happened.
Chuck, that is one of the best pictures i have ever seen on CT. Where is the DUKE and Clint?
My little Drive-in in Mountains, that no one has commented on.Sorta sad these little gems are forgotten.
Well, once again in 1956 it parked 300 cars and was owned by H.L. Durst. At that time it was the only Drive-in in that city.
