Harold Robinson opened the single screen Rancho Drive-In on June 27, 1948 with Humphrey Bogart in “Treasure of the Sierra Madre”. It was the first of its kind for Denton.
It reopened as the Town and Country Drive-In I & II on September 28, 1973 with Clint Eastwood in “High Plains Drifter” & Roger Moore in “Live and Let Die”. The drive in closed permanently in 1982, fell into disrepair, and by 2005 the only evidence left standing was a portion of the snack bar.

A view of the Rancho Drive-In in Denton Texas.
In 1971 the screen was blown over in a storm. After repairs the theater opened with two screens as Town and Country Drive In. The sight is across the street from the UNT engineering building on old highway 77.

This Texas Drive-in parked 350 cars and was owned by Lester Dollison & Robinson.
In early 2017 new construction started on the drive in property. The Brentwood Place Apartments are now at this location.

Opened as a twin drive-in on 28th September 1973 on screen 1 with “High Plains Drifter” and “Joe Kidd” and on screen 2 with “Live and Let Die” and “The Honkers”.
A closer address is 3963 N Elm St, Denton, TX.
This places it right about where the entrance to the drive-in was located. Today, a housing edition sits on the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
