Grand just opened another season of live performances. Shows this year include Jimmy Buffett’s Escape from Margaritaville, the Mountaintop, the Bodyguard, My Way, Beautiful and a ‘legends’ cabaret.
All 39 episodes of The Honeymooners were filmed at the DuMont Television Network’s Adelphi Theatre at 152 West 54th Street in Manhattan, which is a bit of a distance from here.
The final film has been announced by ape on Feb 4th. a sing-a-long presentation of Victor/Victoria. Odd that as the only songs worth singing along to are “Le Jazz Hot” & “Shady Dame from Seville”
Proof how tone deaf those programming are to the illustrious history of this soon to be shell of it’s former self.
Only one movie should be the ‘final film’ , especially if they want a sing-a-long -
Clark Gable, Jeanette McDonald, Spencer Tracy in 1936’s “San Francisco” - every year on the anniversary of the great quake, the Castro would show this to a packed house. Before each movie, what does the organist end his set with? Talk about a social media moment and sending the iconic venue off than a packed house singing “San Francisco”. But no, the tone deaf apes, just don’t get it- nor have they or will they.
The venue sits dark, with the bankroll name illuminated where the words Boyd once were. Sadder still is that any remnants of the once glorious movie theatre are long gone.
The Castro is closing Feb 4, 2024 for a (scheduled ) SIXTEEN MONTH renovation project.
“APE ultimately got their way, with the SF Board of Supervisors approving their renovation plans in June. And the firm got its final approval in October to expand liquor service to the theater’s second floor.”

The only domed, large-format film venue in Philadelphia was closed down with the rest of the science center at the start of the pandemic in March 2020. When the institute reopened after a few months, the IMAX theater remained shuttered with its fate unclear.
The space will be mothballed for the foreseeable future and turned into something else, said Franklin Institute president and CEO Larry Dubinski.
To keep the theater going, Dubinski said, would have required “a new projection system, screen, and everything else.” Ultimately, the science center concluded that “this was not the way to invest dollars and move forward right now.”
You have quite an extensive online collection, however I don’t seem to find a source credited from where you got the material. So shouldn’t you just be posting links to your sources as well?
Also Mr Cinerama, curious as to where you got the images/adverts from actually? I don’t see any credit as to where they originally came from. Given your insistance for not copying, aren’t you just copying others work too? Asking for a friend.
The Egyptian will be used as one of the venues for the 15th annual TCM Film Festival in April.

the gambling was never an issue here, as this venue, when open did not offer on site sports betting.
After 4 months and 25 million dollars, Bankroll closed.
In a sports crazy town like Philadelphia, one would think this would be a success. But mismanagement was its downfall as in this article

Best keep your phone in your pocket during screenings here.
Someone couldn’t live without theirs, and not only did a theatre employee show up, but also with an armed guard.
Now that the Mirvish is primarily a live event venue, they. look to be harkening back to their movie theatre days.

Interesting, as according to their site and google maps, the Smart & Final is located at 350 7th Avenue.
Which is not the address listed above. I’ve not been in a Smart. & Final venue, but I highly doubt it takes that much room?
