Who owns the theater. This is very important in regards to what you put into this project. You could put money and equipment into thos and if you don’t own the theater and someone comes along with money to buy the building for retail or non movie use you are s—– out of luck. These are important questions. As for “For Shame” I understand your pain. As a former theater manager in the good old days film was it. BUT today Video is in. rg

You need to go into more details as to equipment, etc. What is the status of the theatre NOW. I’ve been in the aud. through the storage company, But what has changed. Detail are important if you want MONEY. rg

The theatre is long gone. Steve and Remy Fox had several theatres thru out the area. Some were managed by Budco Theatres out of Doylestown, Pa. rg

The sad thing is that people do not care until its to late. It seems soon as the word gets out about a theatre closing or being torn down, then everyone wants to get on the bandwagon and SAVE it. By then its TO LATE> Look at Phila. and all the theatres that are gone. Some small, some large but G O N E! Theatres that could NEVER be replaced today. I’m so happy I took pictures of a lot of the houses before it was to late. rg

Well if somebody doesn’t do something soon it will be to late. No heat in the building for several years and the condition of the roof is not good. Some leaks' but I don’t know how bad. Some one was looking at it but no activity in a long time. A tree is growing out of the front wall. rg

The paint marks on the side is where they were testing the different colors. Rumors have it the people the own and run the Grand Theater may have bought it. That would be great but just a rumor. rg

Yesterday I drove by this theatre and the marquee is gone. The theatre is still open BUT it looks like some one is putting MONEY into the place. This is a great little theatre and nice to see that it is turning around. If any one knows what is going on or who is running the theatre let us know.. rg

Sorry for taking so long to reply to MBS. BUT as I stated in Nov. 2004 the theatre was operated and managed by Budco Theaters. They did NOT own it. It was independently owned as noted by MBS.

MikeRa, I have not seen any pictures of the orig. 309 cinema. Someone did take pictures opening night from our office but I cannot remember who. The builder was from the Doylestown area but I don’t think he’s around anymore. rg

The problem today is lack of showmanship. Today its get you in and get you out. How many shows can we get in a day. As a manager your job was many things not just walking around. First check the marquee, stand back and look at the front of your theatre. Next the box ofice, lobby, candy stand (snack bar) and the rest rooms. Go to the booth and check equipment. When the doors open check the auditorium (lights, music, seats, screen. When the show starts sit or stand in the back and check sound, picture. Take pride in your theatre. Surround yourself with good help. Hire people that want to work in the theatre because they like the theatre not because they want to watch free movies. I could go on and on but I’m dreaming because those days are gone. Today there is No Showmanship, just get them in and get them out.

TheaterBuff1: It’s TIME to get real! This area will never return to the way it was theatre style. It’s over and in the PAST. Be thankful the Devon is being saved. You only theatre left to SAVE is the Art Holiday. Put your effort into that theatre.

The present owners and business owners of these buildings are not going to sell, move or close what is making money to return it to a theatre. Look at the old GGC theatre on the Blvd. in the N/E. GGC closed it. It sat forever empty and at one point it was going to be turned into a school. Now it’s ready for the wrecking ball do to the fire. Look at Franklin Mills Mall theatre IT’S NOW A CHURCH. It’s a LOST cause.

A Digital projector is just that a projector and any type of signal can be feed into it. Sat. signal, dvd, computer etc. The projector resolution is much higher than your ind. or home theatre units. But like all the units it’s what you put into it that counts. Garbage in garbage out. One of the big problems light output to fill a large theatre screen and color reproduction (flesh tones). Granted it is the future but maybe not next week.
