I really can’t 100% answer that but it appears a lot of places in that general area have Kenmawr tied to their name, schools, churches and the like. No idea what it means though.
Current Google Aerial view shows visible ramps. The current street view, however, is from January 2018, and it appears there is rampant construction on all parts of the site which would lead me to believe the last traces of this DI are now gone.
Not a drive in, but if you look at an aerial and go north a couple miles to 214 N Hunter Hwy, Drums, PA 18222 on the east side of the road you can see the remnants of Angela Park, an amusement park that closed in 1987. Not much left but concrete pads.
I believe this picture is from it’s final year of operation. The first movie was a foreign horror film from the early 70’s under a different name, I can’t find a thing about the second film, but Stark Raving Mad came out in January of 1983, which is the year this DI closed.
Talking to myself again, I also wanted to mention that if you look at the 1959 Historic Aerial, you will see this Drive-In under construction, just months before it’s September opening.
That would be the old Pittsburgh Railways Trolley system. That was the 87 Ardmore line. It was the second longest line on system at 13.7 miles. It ran until January of 1967. Google and Wikipedia (sometimes) are your friends :)
Historic Aerials showed that it essentially sat empty, still looking like a drive in minus the buildings and screen from the time it closed until development started in 2012. Someone was cutting the grass there for 30 years.
dallas is correct. 1538 Brightwood, New Philadelphia, OH will put you at the location of this DI. It is visible in both the 1960 and 1971 Historic Aerials. The 1994 one some traces of the ramps are still visible, after that all visible hints that a DI was once there are gone. A self storage place and a healthcare facility now occupy the land, as well as a road going right through the middle of it.
Google Aerial view and the Google Street view from September of 2015 shows that the second screen at the southeast corner of the property is still standing. It would also appear that the original projection booth/concession stand has been repurposed.
jw is correct. That will map right to the old entrance to this drive-in. There is not a S. Court Street in Coalton. It is visible as a functioning Drive-In in 1960 and 1971 Historic Aerials. Currently it appears that the projection booth/concession stand is still in use and that a Flea Market takes place on the site. This is according to a sign out front that may or may not be the old marquee. The google Streetmobile last went down there in 2009 and the image is not very clear.
Interesting to note that if you look at the 1962 Historic Aerial, you can see that the concession stand/projection booth is built, you can see the ramps have been graded and the ticket booths built…but there isn’t a screen present. It would be 3 years from this aerial before it actually opened!
It was just a little further south from the address listed. It was at 1180 US-52,
Aberdeen, OH 45101. Currently the site of H & S Mobile Home Park. If you look close enough you can still make out faint ramp outlines.
The dealership is now sells Audi. The dealership really didn’t do much to what was the drive-in except for the entrance/exit roads. Essentially the main portion of the drive in is the golf range.
This can be marked as demolished. The whole plaza, both sides of Cedar, has been torn down and rebuilt at some point, so the original theater building is long gone.
Biagios is still there…but those drive-ins are not. There have literally been not one, not two, but THREE different Wal-Marts there. The original was torn down when they built a bigger new one that opened in 2002 just to the west of the original. Then within the last 5 years they moved into the old K-Mart which was just west of the most recent Wal-Mart and call it a Supercenter…which is the smallest Supercenter I have ever seen.
I was very familiar with this drive in, not because I went there, but because my Grandmother lived in Garfield Heights, just up Warner road off of Garfield Boulevard. Back then, Interstate 77 ended at Rockside Road and there was no I-480. You had to take regular roads from that point, roads that ALWAYS went right by the Cloverleaf. I do remember seeing some interesting titles on the Marquee that involved Nurses at one time. I do not recall actually ever seeing anything on the screen, I think my parents took the long way around when going home.
The site was never “trashed.” It is used to store “trash” dumpsters. If you look at an aerial that pretty much proves it. The outline and ramps are still there, the entrance/exit roads are still there, there are literally just a bunch of empty dumpsters sitting on the site.

http://drive-ins.com/gallery/pathil2/hilltop-drive-in-theater-butler-pa for pictures.
Wow, this one was quite the secluded ozoner. Pretty much nothing visible from the road due to A) It’s on a hilltop, thus the name, and B) Forest!

July 2017 Google Street view shows that the box office is STILL standing, but it really isn’t in very good shape.

Appears to be Terrain Apartments now, no longer a hotel.
Even that old, old middle school was torn down last year. Now a big empty field…with a flagpole.

August 2011 Google Street view shows that the marquee is still standing and used by one of the businesses on the property.

Youtube video of this defunct Drive In posted in August of 2014.

Time to change the status of this one back to OPEN! For one more year at least. From their Facebook page:
Movie schedule May 4th – 5th (Friday and Saturday night)
Screen 1: Avengers : Infinity War (PG-130 followed by Black Panther (PG-13)
Only one screen this weekend. More to open soon. Box Office will open at 7pm. Shows start at dusk, which, according to Google, is 8:20pm.
