The old marquee stood on Admiral for years before being torn down sometime in the 1970s, long after I-244 cut off the drive-in from the street.

However, you can still see the base of the marquee and part of the original entrance road located on the west side of Crown Liquor Store on Admiral.

A 1955 topo map shows the drive-in as a single screen occupying the west half of the property.

The new screen was added and the eastern half of the property was then developed. So, the western area is the original drive-in with the eastern half added in 1955.

It looks like part of the drive-in will be an AirBnB.

An April 2022 Google Street View shows the ticket booth complete and work being done on building a new projection booth where the old one stood.

The ramps have been cleaned and rebuilt as well with work being done on the entrance road.

And, it appears that something may be constructed on the back of the lot. This may be where the concession stand will go.

A January 2022 Google Street View shows the property has been mowed, the screen has been repainted, and the ticket booth has been torn down and in the process of being rebuilt.

The projector booth/concession stand was also torn down and as of the date of the Google Street View yet to be rebuilt.

However, the bridge leading to the drive-in has yet to be improved. It still has a weight limit of four tons. That’s about five vehicles maximum.

It’s possible that the new management might cut a deal with the VFW which would allow traffic to flow into its substantial parking area instead of sitting on the bridge.

A closer address is Happy Valley Road & Shaggy Ridge Road, Robinvale, Australia.

I see the imprint of ramps on the SE side of the intersection. Otherwise, no trace of the drive-in remains.

The drive-in first appears in a 1953 aerial. It is still intact and perhaps operational in 1983. By 1995 it has been demolished.

Apart from the projection booth/concession stand, the only remaining evidence of the drive-in is the entrance/exit road and an imprint of the ramp outline on the north side.

It appears that the foundation of the screen is still present. But the foundation of the concession stand/projection booth is almost all gone. Just a few pieces of concrete remain.

The large square shape in the aerials that might be mistaken for the concession stand/projection booth sits just to the northeast. It appears to have been put in after the drive-in was torn down.

In fairness, the housing development has not yet removed all traces of the drive-in from the property. As of a May 2022 Street View, you can still see some of the ramps on the north side.

However, once the housing development is complete it will wipe out any traces of the drive-in.

A closer address is 209 Tierra Rejada Rd, Simi Valley, CA.

As per the discussion, the actual street addresses of the area have changed. The original address listed is now nearly two full blocks away from where the drive-in actually stood.

Galway Lane lines up with the old drive-in entrance as shown on the overhead map and with the Street sign that can be seen in a previous post.

I do not agree with your view that only new CT members will assume that the address listed under the name only refers to the original address and not the current one. After all, the maps on this site are set to take the viewer to the current address, so that is how the site is geared, but we will have to agree to disagree on that.

However, what the admin wants to do is up to the admin. All I can do is request a change and provide evidence to back that up. So with that in mind.

This is the street sign for Galway Lane. And Galway Lane is the same entrance as the old drive-in.

DavidZornig, the street numbers have been changed. That’s what I said in my previous post. I can SEE the changes using Google Maps and Street Views on the houses/streets themselves.

Galway Lane, which is where the old entrance to the drive-in was, is located at 200 Tierra Rejada Road because it states that on the street sign itself.

So, based on the addresses of the streets and houses as seen through Google Maps and Street View, not because of them, the accurate address of the entrance road to the old drive-in is 209 Tierra Rejada Road.

I use 209 because that is a very minor shift that better aligns on Google Maps, but I would be happy with 200.

361 is too far away, a full block away from the entrance. So, 361 Tierra Rejada Road should not be used because there is a better, more accurate address.

I understand that there are several different views of how addresses should be presented on the pages. It’s gone from center of the property to the entrance road and so forth.

I take the opposite view that the purpose of the address on CT is to locate where the property is today. And that original addresses should be in the comments or description. This is because addresses not only change, they are also removed so they cannot be found anymore. It does little good to post an address that is either inaccurate or non-existent in my view.

And for many it is not moot when looking to see what the property is today, even if there is no trace of the drive-in remaining. It allows people to see how the property has changed over time.

My suggested solution is simple. Post the current/accurate address at the top and put all pertinent historic information in the description, including old addresses. That avoids all confusion.

DavidZornig, the addresses have changed on the street itself. You can see it when viewing Google Maps and Street View.

On Google Maps, 361 Tierra Rejada Road aligns with Stargaze Place. Which is one block west of where the drive-in sat. You can see the “400” address on the street sign.

Galway Lane, which aligns with the entrance to the old drive-in, is at “200” on the street sign.

The overhead Google Maps include the current addresses. “361” has moved one full block to the west. “209” is pretty much where the entrance road use to be.

So, the original address is no longer in effect for locating the drive-in because the town has changed the addresses. This is not all that unusual.

Good spot, kennerado. The 1973 aerial was taken after the screen was gone.

A closer address is 209 Tierra Rejada Rd, Simi Valley, CA.

The old entrance to the drive-in is now Galway Lane. The drive-in was still intact in a 1995 aerial with no indication that it had become a swap meet at least at that time. By 2005, the drive-in had been demolished and housing was built on the property.

There is no trace of the old drive-in remaining.

I’m not seeing any indication of a drive-in along HWY 2 or anywhere in the vicinity of Tioga, ND. And this is from a 1973 aerial. Even if a tornado took down the screen, there are normally other identifiable elements of the drive in.

Is there an address available?

A closer address would be 711 South Ave, Sparks, Georgia.

After all, Branch Circle is just to the north of the what was the old entrance road. This one is somewhat closer, although not 100% on the spot.

The area is now a trailer park. I can find no trace of the old drive-in remaining.

A 1955 aerial doesn’t show any indication of a drive-in that I can find near the crossroads that is listed as Rio. This may be a temporary drive-in that left no mark.

The drive-in remained intact until at least 1995, but was mostly demolished in 2003.

The concession stand/projection booth is still standing as of 2014, although it’s not in very good condition.

Kenmore commented about Sundown Drive-In on May 22, 2022 at 5:37 pm

Drive-in appears intact and open in 1981, but by 1995 had been demolished.

The main entrance to the drive-in was off Main Street, not Norfolk Road where the current entrance is located. The old entrance road is gone save for a small bit extending south from the current entrance.

However, you can still see the foundation of the ticket booth.
