The Skylark Drive-In was opened on October 19, 1949 when it was operated Clifford Nickes. It was soon operated by Dr. C.P. Gray. By 1955 it was operated by Mrs. Artemis Gray.

It was still open for the 1960 season which was probably its final season.

It may have closed well before 1961.

A 1957 aerial shows the drive-in intact and appearing operational. By 1961, it appears closed.

A trail cuts through the drive-in from the north to the projection booth/concession stand before turning west. The west side of the property looks to be razed or at least highly disturbed.

I’d say this drive-in closed at least a year earlier than 1961, perhaps two or three years earlier.

Do you know anything about the possible other drive-in in Newport? According to a source, there is possibly another drive-in called the Razorback although I cannot find it anywhere.

Nope, I see no indication of any other drive-in in the Newport area. Although it could’ve pre-dated the aerials or existed for a short time and was demolished between aerials.

It may have also been a drive-in restaurant and not a theatre.

You might be correct Kennerado.

On June 8, 1960, Motion Picture Exhibitor listed the Skylark of Newport AR as one of many drive-in theaters that reopened for the season.
