There’s a petition going on change.org for the theatre to come back. I hope the theater finds new life. It was featured on the local channel 2 news two nights ago.
This weekend marks 11 years since it opened. I wonder how long the lease is for this theater compared to the old amcs in and out of the mall . Ever since they changed the projection and revamped two auditoriums and raised prices it has made profits despite declining sales of tickets. Now I hear that amc will sell merchandise at this and other theatres.
Superman 1978 is being shown here this week in honor of the upcoming justice league movie. I wonder if it’s a 35mm print or a DCP? Recently warner released a two movie set on blu ray containing the 2001 special edition and the hd version of the t.v. extended cut .
Reserved seating first debuted in USA for road show releases during the golden age of Hollywood but it took awhile for mainstream cinema chains to accept it.
That stinks. Pretty soon every theater will have it. Manhattan is very high volume compared to the jersey suburbs . No wonder why more people are watching movies at home instead of heading out to a movie.

If a chain like AMC takes over this theater all hope will be lost.
Only two more months and it’s gone…

Murder on the orient express is being shown in 70mm but not at the loews auditorium.
Its similar to watching a letterbox movie in standard definition aspect ratio.
That’s the slogan for odeon.

Here’s to the next 80 years…
When the i max first opened they some times shows 35mm SDDS films blown up to fill half the i max screen like with titanic.
I hope Rockaway gets the seats that this theater has.
This theater hasn’t aged well.
Nice picture.
It was ahead of its time.
