THANK YOU THANK YOU Lost for that WONDERFUl 1967’s image of the Ridgewood. It looked great! I remember very well the Ridgewood’s look of that 1980’s photo you posted after that. I remember that 5 Plex sign at the end of the marquee, which originally said “3-Plex” when they first cut it up. Look how crappy the front of the building looked by the 80’s, with all the windows boarded up. it certainly looks better now, and in it’s more recent years than it did in the 80’s!
The new marquee is however far inferior to the original one that fell down in the 1960’s snowstorm, but even so, it will be nice to hopefully once again see movies on that marquee if they really do reopen it come July as promised.
As for interior images, I think if anyone ever comes up with an interior image of the Ridgewood, they will be the most loved cinematreasure member here. I can’t believe it’s so hard to come up with an interior image for this theater!
Thanks Warren.
Nice photos. Yeah, I have been very slowly making comments in some of the theaters I want the email alerts to come on, but have been doing it very very slowly as not to flood the site. I also trying to keep those comments to relevant comments, but it’s hard sometimes, but there’s no way to reactivate the emails coming on theaters I want to get the alerts on but to make a comment. I am slowly working up my list which very thankfully is still attached to our handle accounts, so at least I know what theaters I want to be attached to. if not for that I wouldn’t know where to start!
Anyway, great photos.
Lost, it sounds like “small spaces for individual retailers” sounds like a flea market compartment store like set up….sort of like the old Busy Bee Compartment store that used to be in the old RKO Madison Theater. Hopefully though, that use won’t destroy the theater like they did at the Madison, but instead, do it sort of like the RKO Richmond Hill is used.
David, I agree with you. By the way, the parking meter could be removed because a lot of NYC streets have gone to paper “metered” parking, where there are no meters anymore, and you pay the fee at a box placed every so many 100 feet, and place the ticket on your dashboard proving you paid. I don’t know if that is what happened here, but it is possible.
As for your thoughts on the sad fate the front of the Trylon has come to, I agree….
Panzer, I have so many memories of the Oasis Roller World as a teenager in the 80’s, and from the 70’s seeing many disney movies there as a kid. Hard to believe it had fallen to be a “CVS”.

John, yes, I wold agree. Again, as I said, something along the lines of what the Busy Bee was in the Madison Theater.
There seems to be conflicting reports on whether the interior of the auditorium is intact or not. ANyone know for sure?

Last I heard, Brookhaven Town was trying to condemn the Plaza, but I haven’t heard anything in a while. The place looks awful on the outside.
I guess the theater is still in shambles. I wonder if there are any plans for the theater in the rebuilding of Coney Island plan that is taking place.
Has anyone been inside the “church” to see what the interior of the theater looks like now?
Here’s a Google Street View of the old Williamsburg:
Click here for link. Oddly, it was done at night
I wonder what if any part of the old interior is intact in the medical building it is used for now.
Does the lobby part of the building exist, or just the exterior facade?
Do any of the architectual features of the Alden remain in the store is being used as? What is it today?

This theatre has been getting great use. A lot of great things have been booked here lately.
What year did the Broadway close?
Amazing how beautiful the interior of this theater was. Does anyone know if anything at all survived the conversion to a school?
Thanks for the recent photos.
Thanks Warren.

Haha, I think a lot of run down theaters were called “The Itch”!
I heard this building was up for sale last summer, is it still a church?

Does anyone know when the Glenwood actually stopped showing movies?
Thanks Joe G, that is very interesting.
