PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

5101 SOUTH NOGALES HIGHWAY

210 E. Pennsylvania Drive was the original posted address. When I looked it up on Google Map it is a good address, but seeded like a strange place for a Drive-In. Every place I looked gave the new address I added and old aerial photos matched this new address. Sorry Ken.

The site of the Drive-In is now Soccer Fields.

The original screen burned down in ~1953 approxamate?

Showed Spanish Movies ~1975-~1981 approximate?

Closed ~1981 approximate?

You all are welcome to verify and come up with exact dates.

Need more info and photos.

Michael, I agree with Chris!

When a theater is added to CT and no comments are ever added, THAT IS A TERRIBLE WASTE. I try to add a comment to every theater, at least in the United States, to try to stir things up and get other folks interested in that theater, and to comment about it.

I live in a small town of 8,000, in the middle of nowhere, with a small library. Any checking I do on a theater has to be done via computer. Even so at the rate they are added to CT, I have problems keeping caught up.

Is it better to leave the comment blank which is perfect and very accurate?

Is it better to add some info that might not be perfect but might be of interest and get other folks to comment or correct it?

I think rather than a blank comment page, the dates of about when a theater was open is kinda helpful. Yes the exact dates would be great, but who knows them. Someone sees that and thinks oh that’s when it was open or that’s not right and adds a comment. Listing the owners that can be found can be nice and the dates, again not perfect, but someone sees that and thinks, I forgot that, but now I remember General Cinema being there. Is all that exactness that important to the vistor to CT? What about all the locations I’ve found an address for?

Your a perfectionist, you know what, so am I, and I correct lot’s of mistakes on CT. CT is never going to be perfect, I wish it was, but if some dates or facts are off some, they give a general idea.

As I think I’ve said before here, as my wife says about me, and I say about what I add here “It’s better than nothing”.

We all know your feelings so save your time and just “If you find an error,…,correct it.” You can spend that time making a list of CINERAMA Movies in San Juan, Puerto Rico, that’s part of the United States.

Alexandria Cinema 6, opened by General Cinema Corp. ~1995, closed by Carmike Cinema, December, 6, 2007.

Your all welcome to verify the dates to make sure they are exact.

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

197 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, GRETNA, LA 70056

That’s a better address than Oakwood Shopping Center, New Orleans, because it’s not in New Orleans. I’ve been in Gretna many times being at the close by U.S. Naval Support Activity in Algiers and the U.S. Naval Air Station JRB New Orleans in Belle Chasse. They are all across the Mississippi from New Orleans. I ought to know, I took the ferry lots of times to get across the river to New Orleans. I got a lot of “sea duty” that way.

I know it was open in 1967 as Oakwood I & II owned by General Cinema Corp.

~Late 1970’s 3 screens approximate?

~Early 1980’s 4 screens approximate?

~Early 1990’s closed approximate? Michael Coate or anyone else is welcome to verify and come up with exact dates. See all the extra typing I have to do Michael, and I’m not a good typist?

Anyone have more info or photos?

Mike Rogers, your Skyway/Skyland Drive-In in Anderson, SC was deleted because it was alredy on CT.

PLEASE CHANGE THE NAME OF THEATER TO:

TRYON

The 1967, THE FILM DAILY YEAR BOOK of MOTION PICTURES, under Stewart & Everett Theatres, Inc., lists in New Bern: Tryon. Charles B. Trexler, President & Treas. with 69 theaters in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

A Governor of North Carolina was named Tryon, so a number of things in the state are named Tryon. Trylon was that tall “spire”? next to the sphere at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair.

Anyone have more info or photos on this theater?

I’ll bet lots of Marines went to this theater. The Cherry Point U.S. Marine Corps Air Station is nearby.

I found it listed on Magnolia Street but that’s all homes. So is Magnolia and Magnolia Avenue. The only one that could work is North Magnolia Avenue, that seems to be a business street.

Anibal, if you know the building still stands and is now a store, what is the address?

Open ~1923-~1955 approximate? Your all welcome to verify those dates.

tisloews, I had a devil of a time finding the location of this Drive-In. If you spent all the time I spent Thursday Night and Friday Morning trying to find out the location you would have forgot by then what was in the original comment too. Google Map puts it South of Carrollton and it’s really East of town along the river, that’s why it has the name it has. I never see tisloews used to add theaters some folks for some reason use a different name, do you?
