There is a photo circa 1943 on this tribute site to the police officer killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on 11/22/63. You have to scroll down for a while: http://tinyurl.com/34vkm3
I found one, but it might be the Grand Palace in Valencia, CA. They build them all alike. I’ll keep an eye out. There was a nice B&W photo on the Flickr site, but I’ll leave that one for you.
We don’t have too many photos of this theater, so I’ll take what I can get. I often have lunch at the Subway immediately adjacent to the architectural atrocity that replaced the Town.
Status should be open. Here is some additional information on the Opera House:

For showing adult films, I suppose.
You may be right. I’m going home. A pleasant holiday weekend to all.

Here is a vintage photo from the LAPL. Ignore the fake Christmas tree in the foreground:

The LA Library keeps producing photos from a seemingly bottomless source, so I will continue to check their site. Maybe we will get lucky.

Here is a new addition from the LAPL. The Town is visible on the east side of Hill Street:

It said “Wilkommen”, which is welcome in German. Maybe they were having a German film festival.
