Last weekend, I enjoyed 4k restored Lawrence of Arabia, in 5.1 surround sound at Ambler’s main auditorium. The curtain isn’t used often but it was opened after the overture music. Showing again 7 PM this Wednesday! Check out the wonderful lineup of classics including Gone with the Wind in August.
Uptown is currently showing new Star Trek Into the Darkness movies, in 2D & 3D showings. Last I asked, late 2011, the curtain motor had broke & the company wasn’t repairing it.
The Old Greenbelt Theatre will be able to renovate its art deco lobby, after it was awarded a $75,000 grant from Partners in Preservation.
For nearly a month, the Greenbelt theater competed against other historic places in the DC metro area for the possibility of winning some grant money to help them rennovate.
Although they did not take first place, they were still awarded $75,000 after a committee reviewed their needs.

Yes, right, as Ken Roe & I wrote in our Intro for LA’s Egyptian, it was shown there, though we have for about 6 months. So far as I know, it was only in the 1950s & 1960s that some films played some showplace theaters for more than one year.
Yes, the new “The Great Gatsby” shows Robin Hood sign on a Broadway or Times Square theater in 1922 and in another thread Al Alvarez replied to my question that it had its local original run here at the Lyric.
Myself, I don’t see movies in 3 D but I enjoyed The Great Gatsby in 2 D! It depicts well the Roaring 20s including movies like Robin Hood on Broadway theater signs. The movie is doing good box office nationwide 2nd only to Iron Man 3.
Al, et al, the Post is correct as I have heard from people who know, that the building will be replaced with new construction. This cinema’s days are indeed numbered.
I have found out that our local 2 Philly burb cinemas will indeed become Bow Tie. Congrats to Bow Tie for their growth and let’s all say together “Long live the Ziegfeld!”
I agree that popcorn prices are outrageous but I’m looking forward to the introduction of Dolby Altmos sound. Dolby Altmos means many different tracks or points or sound throughout the auditorium. I’d doubt that a theater needs to set it too loud. As to movies at home, movies are supposed to be larger than life on large screens, not TV screens.
I’ve added 2 photos to the gallery. Not absolutely sure they are this cinema, but probably are.
I’ve posted a photo in the photo gallery.
I’ve placed a photo in the photo galley.
I’ve today placed a rendering, in the photo gallery.
I’ve placed a photo likely from Opening, in the photo gallery.
I’ve added an exterior photo of a theater named King from a collection of Eric theater photos. Is this photo correct for this theater?

Tinseltoes, a google search reveals your link is Scottish Rite Auditorium, not this theater.

Thanks, Al re Robin Hood. That movie opened Grauman’s Chinese, but I didn’t know where here it opened.

Anyone who likes the Ziegfeld & is eager to see the new The Great Gatsby in 3D, can enjoy that movie now at the Ziegfeld!
The 1922 Robin Hood is shown at a Broadway theater in new The Great Gatsby film. If anyone knows where, you might wish to post on that theater’s page.

There’s more than 41 cinemas on Clearview website so I am curious whether they will take over Philly burbs cinemas of Bala & Anthony Wayne.
