Part of the Morris M. Finkel chain in the early Seventies, along with the Arcade, Chatham Cinema, Echo Drive-In and Mt. Oliver, all in Pittsburgh.

The 1970 IMPA lists the East Sprague and Dishman Theaters, and says both are in Spokane. The two theaters were part of Favorite Theaters, Inc, and were operated by J.J. Rosenfield. Here are the Favorite theaters at that time, all listed as being in Spokane:
Post, Garland, East Sprague, East Trent, North Cedar, West End, Dishman.

Try taking pictures in a church sometime. Even worse.

“Adult movies” says it all. Patrons probably aren’t that interested in the movie, anyway.

OK. My memory isn’t what it used to be. I’m pretty sure the fudge place is gone now, though.

But, the Beverly was a nice theater, whereas I didn’t think too much of the Galaxy when it opened. I think the Galaxy took over the spot where CC Fudge used to be, and I was upset about that. Great hot fudge sundaes.

HVAC buffs? Is there an “HVAC Treasures” website? That would be interesting reading.

Last visit to the Fairfax was for the Israeli film festival a few years ago. I never saw it before it was multiplexed. Interestingly enough I first noted the old advertisement on the back wall (now painted over) for the first time in 2002 after years of walking up and down Fairfax, usually coming back from Canter’s.
