SEATS:

I THINK it closed ABOUT 1998?

Anyone have anymore info or photos?

I think the red dot on the Google map is a bit off. Am I right that the theater was more over by the Huston Gateway Academy?

Well folks, it’s no question you found a drive-in. I don’t know if I would say it was at the north end of 138 or not, it could be, or could not be the Blue Hills??

It would be great if someone could find an exact address, photos, and more info!

It held 800 autos.

It was open from ABOUT 1969-1995? I know it was open in 1967.

In 1975 it was owned by Hallmark Releasing Corporation?

From 1990-1995 it was owned by Melrose Associates Incorporated?

PLEASE CHANGE NAME TO WHAT MARQUEE READS:

east bend TWIN drive-in.

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

Google Map shows the entire United States when HIGHWAY is used, but shows the correct location when OHIO is used.

For some reason the Google Map has it off some blocks. It is closer to the Bowling Green Police Department on the Photo Map.

Anyone have more info on the theater, or photos when it was a theater?

Appears to be, Comfort of Home, a Furniture Store.

Most likley the Rio from ABOUT 1935-1945?

The Surf from ABOUT 1950-1955?

Not exactly sure of the dates, or when it changed names??

Owned by Long Theaters of Bay City, Texas, in 1940.

AKA:

NOROMBEGA HALL.

STYLE:

GREEK REVIVAL.

The address does not work very well. The way I understand it, the theater faced Central Street and it’s back was to Franklin Street. Because the two streets are closest at Hamond Street, I would guess it was fairly close to that street?

Any help with an address, photos or info would be great!

After World War II the Military had thousands of surplus Quonset Huts and was selling them to anyone for $1,000. That is no doubt why so many Quonset Hut theaters showed up.

Any info or photos?

Why is it called a QUONSET Hut?

They were “invented” at the Davisville Naval Construction Battalion (=C.B.=Seabees get it?) Center, at QUONSET Point, Rhode Island. I landed and took off from the now closed U.S. Naval Air Station Quonset Point (now called Quonset State Airport).

CORRECT NAME IS:

pineS.

Anyone have photos or an address?

I THINK it opened ABOUT 1950?

It was still open in 1967 and was still owned by Martin Theaters of Georgia and Alabama, Incorpoated of Columbus, Georgia.

I understand that the Interstate Hiway System first started in Tifton.

Ret. AKC (NAC) CCC Bob Jensen, Manteno, Illinois
Ret. AKC (NAC) CCC Bob Jensen, Manteno, Illinois commented about Hi-Way 82 Drive-In on Jun 8, 2010 at 1:10 am

It was not open in 1967.

Tifton is the home of AGRIRAMA, which has nothing to do with CINERAMA. It is a Museum of Agriculture.

“got milk?” “got address?” “got photos?”
