Oh boy….they were known for showing midnight runs of popular movies during the weekends according to the ads in New York Times. Which leaves other theaters still running.
i’ve seen that in the trailers…it’s an odd aspect ratio and they converted that into 3d. The next avengers movie will be filmed in digital imax 2d for two parts. San andreas will share screen time in imax with Tomorrowland and that is a DMR blowup converted to 3D.
When i first saw the picture of the Empire 25 i thought they had a movie theater inside that palace like entrance but it was transformed into a big lobby with the 25 screens to the left of the exterior.
Paul the ticket taker in the wheelchair passed away this morning at his home unexpectedly….thoughts and prayers to his family…

Does this theater still use SDDS?
Both of which were distributed by TWC.
I read in the NYT that this theater has 4k projection.
This theater’s proximity to Macy’s and the Garden make it a popular tourist attraction for New Yorkers.

looks like tomorrowland will share time with San Andreas in imax this weekend for a few weeks until Jurassic World comes out.
Is Tomorrowland a digital imax presentation or 70mm? I think the majority of imax theaters showing it are digital.
What movie had the longest run at this venue? I think Avatar has the record.

The organ i believe was in the central auditorium. The employees of the theater were very nice.
I doubt that this theater will survive even if Clifton Commons gets renovated by AMC soon…
I always liked the exterior of the place.
Was this the first movie theater ever built in Montclair?

Was this General Cinema’s flagship theater in NJ at the time?
according to the THX website, no theaters in NJ including this one are certified anymore. The closest one i can think of is in Franklin Mills, PA.
